Obama did not put his hand over his heart...

and a lot of emails are going out saying he refused "to pledge allegiance to the flag." That is not the case. (Indeed, I just came across a website that had a photo of it, also claiming it was the pledge of allegiance! I made a comment pointing out the truth, but it has to be "moderated" first. Will be interesting to see if the blog author publishes my correction - or better still corrects the caption.)

Someone was singing the National Anthem. Everyone else on the podium - including Hilary Clinton - had their hands over their heart except Obama. To paraphrase Obama when he was asked about this: "We sing the Anthem, hand over heart is for the Pledge of Allegiance."

Look at everybody in a baseball or football stadium when the National Anthem is played. Very few - usually the older folk only - have their hands over their hearts.

Which isn't to say that I'm not curious about the way he was bending his knees there at the end. Was he bored with the song, or embarrassed for the singer (the rendition has been criticized....) but it does seem to look like he's singing along...the video quality isn't clear enough for me to tell.
