Limbaugh getting desperate...
I'm no fan of Barack Obama, but I am a fan of the truth and of non-distortion, and Limbaugh today on his radio show was all gleeful about an Obama gaffe that wasn't really a gaffe. And the fact that he is trying to portray it as one is rather pathetic...
Obviously, obviously, what he means is that he wins the contest as the victim of those attacks, not as the promulgator of them.
It is interesting to listen to Limbaugh talk. He's been commenting regularly that the Democrats are going to try to destroy Sarah Palin as a person, just as they tried to destroy Clarence Thomas, ya da ya da... "That's what Democrats do."
But at the same time is he and Hannity not doing the same thing to Obama by dragging up all his dirty laundry? I'm sure the Republicans would do it too, if only Obama weren't black... but like illegal aliens, it's impossible to criticize Obama without being hit with the cry of "racism." But when you consider that 99% of the blacks in the US are going to vote for Obama... simply because he's black, is that not racist?
It's just so hypocrticical that they criticize the Democrats for the same things that they themselves do. That's the problems with politicians, frankly. They can't criticize each other because they'd all turn out to be hypocrites if they did.
As an aside...obviously the time for a black President is very close at hand. Hopefully it won't be Obama...but who should it be? Colin Powell? I'd vote for him...
We've got another Obama gaffe, and this was a great one if ABC has left it up on their website. It was on Good Morning America today, an exclusive interview with Good Morning America, and the subject of this particular interview was campaign low blows versus standard attack ads. And Mark Mooney, ABC reports, quotes Obama as having said on Good Morning America today, "If we're going to ask questions about, you know, who has been promulgating negative ads that are completely unrelated to the issues at hand, I think I win that contest pretty handily."

Rush Limbaugh Morning Update, 8/22/08
Last week, Obama used the phrase, "the best and brightest".
Here's Limbaugh's reaction to it, on Friday August 22.
"They turned Iran from a friend to an enemy that still troubles us today." How'd they do that.
And I'm so sick of the term "Renaldus Magnus" -Limbaugh is always dissing the Europeans and yet he and Hannity keep calling Reagan this... it sounds so stupid and pretentious.

Rush Limbaugh hypocritical again
I didn't listen to the Rush Limbaugh show today, but I checked his website to see the highlights.
And one of the headlines, in his stack of stuff, was:
Now isn't that just disgusting? Rush Limbaugh constantly complains that he's quoted out of context, or paraphrased in order to be made to look bad... but of course he has no problem doing that to other people on his show.
To "wet yourself," is a phrase which makes people think that you've lost control of your bladder and urinated, and that's what Limbaugh is trying to make people think Whoopi did. But, no... turns out all she did was spill her water.
Hopefully Whoopi will visit Limbaugh in his tiny little studio (grandiosely called his "southern commmand") and spill some hot coffee all over him, see how he likes it.

RUSH: Michelle (My Belle) Obama was on The View today, and Whoopi Goldberg wet herself. I am not making this up. Whoopi got so excited, she wet herself. "Rush, what can you possibly mean?" Very simple, ladies and gentlemen. She got so excited she spilled her drink cup all over herself. Now, watching replay highlights, let me check the audio sound bite roster. I'm not sure we have any; I'm not sure I want any. Let's see what we have here. Doesn't look like it. I'll betcha Cookie's in the process of breaking some down if she said anything interesting.

Rush Limbaugh Just Doesn't Get It
I was listening to the Rush Limbaugh Show today...(May 29, 2008)...and he really torqued me off today.
As I've said on a couple of occasions here, I agree with some of what he says (secure borders, not giving amnesty to illegal aliens, reward excellence and don't reward mediocrity) and disagree with other stuff (global warming, no right to marriage for gays, don't pull the plug on people who are mental vegetables i.e. Terry Schiavo, God is just and merciful, ya da ya da.)
But as a person, I gotta tell you, I really dislike the man, for a simple reason. He's a male chauvanist pig. His beliefs on the inferiority of women pervade his show.
For example, whenever he refers to a female news reporter, he always - always - calls her a news "babe" or a sports "babe" - or some kind of "babe." If that's not demeaning to these women who work very hard at their craft - regardless of whether they are Democrat or Republic in their beliefs - I don't know what is.
Today, he referred to some woman as a "sexetary" - this woman is not a secretary to a businessman but the secretary of some kind of political group, in the "Secretary of State" type of usage... and this creep has the gall to call her a sexetary.
In previous shows he has made fun of the accent of Arianna Huffington, saying she sounds like a Bond girl...made fun of the fact that she comes from Greece...
And a few weeks ago he referred to the Governor of Alaska - the Governor of Alaska, as a "dish" or a "hot babe." Okay, I can't remember the exact phrase he used, but it was something along those lines. "Yeah, she's a good governor but her looks are the icing on the cake," to paraphrase.
Now, it's true that the average man - from boy to teen to man - obsesses over women's looks and when he's with his buddies that's the type of stuff they talk about it [And do not fool yourself, gents, ladies do the same thing with guys.]
... but when you're on national radio you do not refer to women in that diminishing way. Because that's what he's doing - he's diminishing these women in the ears - and thus the hearts and minds - of his listeners.
He will say, perhaps, that he doesnt' really think women are inferior, he just says that stuff jokingly. But when you do those types of references every single day...you know that's what he really thinks.
Sure, he talks demeaningly about individual men, referring to the Breck Girl, Dingy Harry, etc, but when he talks demeaningly about a single woman, he always gets in shots about the entire sex.

We need to banish the "R" word
I'm talking about the word "Racist."
That's all we hear these days as an excuse for everything.
Barack Obama doesn't get the Presidential nomination? It's not because a lot of people have fears about his pastor that he listened to for 20 years, the knowledge that in his year in the Senate the only bills he got passed were ones that other people had done all the work on, that he's friends with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers, that he thinks there are 57 states in the Union, etc. etc. No - if he loses, it's because America is racist.
(ON a side note. According to Rush Limbaugh, if Hilary Clinton doesn't win, it proves feminism is dead. He makes the same kind of sweeping statement. Not at all, Rush. It means that women are too smart to vote for a woman who climbed to her position on the backs of her husband and Whitewater, et al.)
Just saw the news - didn't bother to turn the sound on - about people in Texas, I believe - protesting with signs saying "Stop racist vigilantes." This isn't about racists going around stringing up blacks, like used to happen back in the 60s, this is about people on the border with Mexico trying to stop ILLEGAL aliens from entering this country.
But as soon as someone screams "racist" - that's it. Fight over. You can no longer fight on the issues - that illegals are, ya know, illegal, and don't deserve the rights of citizens, not the least of which is getting paid welfare, getting a drivers license, etc. - you've got to defend yourself against the charge of racism.
There again you've got Barack Obama, talking about his grandmother as a "typical white person." If that's not a racist statement I've never heard one. But because it was said by a black man... apparently it's not racist?

Jeremiah Wright is NOT a hypocrite
The talk show hosts, and some people commenting on news articles, have claimed that Jeremiah Wright is a hypocrite, because he has preached to his 6-8,000 strong congregation to "stay in the hood" and not to get an education, because, apparently, if you get an education and become a "middle-class" individual, you are selling out to the Rich White People of this country who want blacks to remain poor. (How being able to become "middle class" in a Rich White America is even possible for blacks he hasn't explained, but he doesn't want his people making the effort to do so... in other words, his people are "owed" and musn't make an effort to better their lives...and the squalor they live in as a consequence is still Rich White America's fault.)
Anyway, it was revealed a couple of days ago that Wright's church has bought land for him in a gated community, and are building a million dollar house there for him. And this gated community is 98% white - so if there's 100 homes in this gated community, 98 are white and there are 2 blacks living there.
I think you've got to be a bit more than "middle class" to be living in a gated community.
So is he a hypocrite? Of course not! What's going to happen is simple. He's going to start holding Sunday parties in his home, inviting 20 of his poorest congregants to the house so they can see how Rich White America - and Jeremiah Wright - live. And then, if these people get harassed because they're black in an all white gated community, he's going to be able to say, "See, see, I told you so. Racist America!
Well...maybe not his "poorest" congregants. Maybe he'll ask his "middle class" congregants to come instead...even though he doesn't want any of his people to become "middle class"....
Now...if he doesn't hold these parties for his congregants - just invites the rich pastors and rich black religious folks - well, yeah... that'll make him a hypocrite. Because they should be holding their parties in the hood, so that all the congregants can get a taste of the good life that their tithing provides their pastors.

Give him a swirly!
Just tuned in Rush Limbaugh today, and he is laughing so gleefully - and so fakedly (is that a word?) that I'd really like to escort him into a bathroom, and give him a swirly - in a clean toilet of course.
The American political process is in disarray, and it has been for some years. Convicted criminals are elected to political office...or once they've been elected they're convicted of something - and don't lose their jobs. If they do lose their jobs, a year or two is allowed to pass to allow things to die down, then they're given a sinecure somewhere.
However much of a laughing stock we were before, it's getting worse now. We've got three Democrats running for President (McCain isn't a Republican, for all that he go the nomination...) we've got newspapers building up politicians just to break them down...
On the other hand, some loon named Weingarten has just made a fool of himself. Limbaugh has just played a clip of Weingarten saying that Limbaugh pronounces "Obama" in his weird way because he's trying to pronounce it a black way, a racist way. Well, obviously Weingarten doesn't listen to his program because Limbaugh uses that "orotund way" to pronounce various words, including God (another reason why I'd like to give him a swirly - he's so arrogant.) "Talent on loan from Go-od."

By their jokes you shall know them
I listen to Rush Limbaugh. I agree with some of what he says, disagree with some of what he says, and of him personally, I think he's a jerk.
So, today, I'm listening, and he says, "Do we have our Greek interpreter ready?" and then he plays an excerpt from Ms Huffington (getting in that disdain on the word Ms. of course) Ariana Huffington, the

So she speaks, and although her voice is accented, she was perfectly understandable. And then he comes back and says that her voice reminds him of "the woman from Green Acres" and they should play a bit of that music each time they reference her on the program.
Now... I listen to Limbaugh but I admit I don't listen to him all the time. Does he ever insult the accents of men who criticize him (if there are any accented-men who do so?)? Or does he just accept that they're men, and answer their comments.
Limbaugh of course makes other jokes demeaning to women. He's got his "mistresses" around the country (he wishes), everytime he talks about Hillary Clinton his contempt is as much because she's a woman as because of anything else. Anytime he talks about a female reporter or spokesperson, she is always referred to as a "babe."
Indeed, at 2:35 pm today he just referred to the Tennessee governor's spokesperson as a "spokesbabe." And of course a few weeks ago he referred to the governor of Alaska as a "babe." Although in her case it was just because she was beautiful...he didn't think he was insulting her by saying, "Her being a babe is just the icing on the top."
Yes...I sent him an email pointing out that I didn't like the fact that he demeaned women every single damn time by referring to women like that...but of course that's how he really thinks about women...they are there just for eye candy, and that's it.

Rush Limbaugh update 1/29/08
I'll be sharing a lot of video from You Tube on this blog, since You Tube has rapidly become the place where people go to share video of events that impact them, and where others go to see "what's up."
I'm not affilitated with any of these You Tubers in any way...

As usual, Limbaugh is pounding on Clinton (just like Sean Hannity does with his "Stop Hilary Express.") Now - don't get me wrong - I have no intention of voting for Hilary Clinton either. I'm a Republican. But that doesn't change the fact that I really dislike Limbaugh. You'll notice he takes some shots at Hilary's gender, which annoys me.
Anyway, it's all about the "Uncivil War" - a new term Limbaugh has coined for what's going on in the Democratic party vs Clinton and Obama, and of course he'll pound that catch phrase from here to eternity. (And ignore the Uncivil War going on between the Republicans with McCain and Romney. Well, that's because he's on Romney's side. As well he should be, as McCain, while serving as a Republican, is most definitely a Democrat in all his views.)
